Upgrade Program Announcement

Why your Hublet Tablets or Hublet software needs upgrading

As part of Hublet’s continuing business process and development program improvements, for which communications started last year, an upgrade schedule covering a number of the Hublet Solution components has been planned for 2023 and 2024.

To get the maximum benefit from the Hublet Solution, it is imperative that the most current Hublet Tablets are used within the product ecosystem. This will ensure that Hublet can continue to provide you with new feature developments and enhancements, as well as long-term stability.

You'll need to take part in The Upgrade Program in the following cases:

  • You are currently using Hublet Tablets model SM-T580 or SM-T585. These tablets must be upgraded to the latest model by April 30, 2024.
  • You are currently using Hublet Tablets model SM-T590 or SM-T595 These tablets must be upgraded to the latest model by July 31, 2024.
  • After these dates, these Hublet Tablets will no longer be able to run the Hublet Solution.

The end-of-life of the Hublet Tablets, and the need to upgrade to the latest models, is a natural part of the aging of devices. As a result, old tablets are not able to run the latest versions of Android OS, and no longer receive updates from Google. Thus, being at a security risk, and not running up-to-date applications from Google Play Store properly.  Consequently, not upgrading the tablets will result in your users suffering from not being able to run certain applications or use all the features in these applications.

All users need to start using the latest version of Hublet Manager and Hublet Dock software

In addition to upgrading your tablets to the latest versions, we are also discontinuing support for the outdated Hublet Manager (at https://manager.hublet.fi/access/welcome) and the old Hublet Dock software. This means that as of July 31, 2024, the access to the service will end. Prior to this date, all Hublet customers who are using the old Hublet Manager and old dock software must migrate across to the new Hublet Manager platform.

What is involved in the Upgrade Process?

The upgrade consists of 3 elements. It is crucial to ensure that all components are up to date in order for the Hublet Solution to function properly.

1) Hublet Tablet Upgrade
Upgrading the tablets in the new Hublet Manager is a simple process that can be performed by the Site Admin or a distributor if desired.

2) Migration to the new Hublet Manager UI
The new Hublet Manager is easier to navigate and gives the Site Admin control to create multiple profiles which are easy to update and modify, plus content on demand, without the need to contact Hublet support or distributor.

3) Hublet Dock Software Upgrade
If your dock is still running the old software, the Hublet Dock software must be upgraded by replacing the SD card inside the dock.

Second Life Program

The tablets which are being replaced are still functioning tablets which can have a second life. For example, in Sweden, a library donated the tablets to a museum. Another example is to use them for other digital services in the library or donate to a charity to youth or elderly centres to help bridge the digital divide.
